New York University’s new Washington, DC Center, under the auspices of the College of Arts and Science, will place NYU students and faculty at the cutting edge of intellectual, cultural, and political discourse in the nation’s capital.

NYU has positioned itself as a global university by providing students with opportunities at fully staffed academic centers in eight countries, exchange partnerships with some of the world’s most prestigious universities in 18 countries, and summer programs in 17 countries. No global institution would be complete without a presence in Washington, DC – home to 174 foreign embassies, headquarters of international policymaking bodies, and the seat of the US federal government.

The NYU-DC Center will enable students to pursue a unique, specialized education that will prepare them for leadership in their careers and communities. Students will be able to draw on expanded offerings from five of the College’s top departments, including economics, politics, history, art history, and journalism, and take advantage of internships, lectures, and other activities that complement these areas of study.

The NYU-DC Center will be a home away from home for all NYU faculty, students, alumni, and friends, providing a state-of-the-art venue for scholarly and social pursuits. The University’s Office of Government and Community Affairs and the Brademas Center for the Study of Congress will establish satellite locations in the NYU-DC Center. Additionally, the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and the School of Continuing and Professional Studies will use the facility to offer evening courses.

The benefits of the NYU-DC Center are far-reaching; however the priority will be to provide undergraduates with a concentrated exposure to the rich political life and history of the capital through an unparalleled semester-long study-away academic program.
